Congratulations to our 2015-16 Scholarship Recipients!
Cory Skold is a Theatre major at UNI with a Design and Production emphasis. He is interested most specifically in scenic design and technical direction. Cory has worked on several of the past major productions at UNI such as Spring Awakening, Avenue Q, and he will be spending the fall as assistant scenic designer for Rent. In addition to his involvement in the mainstage, Cory is also a member of the board for both the UNI chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, and the Chair of the USITT student chapter. Through connections he made at Theatre UNI, Cory has worked at the Orpheum Theatre Center in Marshalltown Iowa, interned at Utah Festival Opera, and most recently landed a summer job as a carpenter for the 2015 Creede Repertory season in Colorado. He plans on graduating in December of 2015 and is preparing himself to enter the real world and find employment in the industry he loves.
Dylan Nicole Martin is a senior Theatre Design and Production Major studying
Production and Stage Management. While at UNI, Dylan has stage managed The Merry Wives of Windsor (Opera UNI), The Great God Pan, and RENT. Dylan spent the summer of 2015 with Creede Repertory Theatre in Creede, CO where she stage managed Pants on Fire, The KID Show: BONES!, and The Young Audience Outreach Tour: Reading! And Other Superpowers. Dylan is currently Head of Recruitment for Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity, President of Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honor Society, a member of the 2015 Iowa Thespians Festival Administrative Team, and a recipient of the Robert O. Wise Broadway Tour Scholarship. She will graduate in May of 2016 and hopes to work at different theatres around the country before attending graduate school for Stage Management.
Katherine is a senior Theatre Performance student. She has appeared in the department's mainstage shows The Great God Pan, The Sweetest Swing in Baseball and Lysistrata. She's also performed in the UNISTA productions Twelfth Night and How I Learned to Drive.Katherine was part of construction crew for Mauritius and August: Osage County, costume crew for Merchant of Venice Beach and wardrobe crew for November. She is serving as Alpha Psi Omega's secretary for a second year and directed last year's public library show presented by the fraternity. Katherine will graduate in Spring 2016 and plans on auditioning for various regional theaters so that she may continue her theatrical work upon graduation.
Erika Kuhn is a third year performance emphasis student graduating in the Spring of 2017. Her passions in addition to performance include playwriting and directing. During her time at UNI Erika has been fortunate enough to be involved in several main-stage shows both as a performer and on hair and makeup, scenic, and electric crews. She has also enjoyed being a part of UNISTA productions, APOTAP honor fraternity, and serving as the student festival coordinator for the Iowa Thespian Festival. Erika hopes to pursue a life of acting, writing, and directing after leaving UNI with the hope of one day returning to school for an MFA in performance or writing. She would like to thank the Friends of Theatre UNI as well as her mentors and peers for these amazing opportunities and experiences.
